Those interested in participating in the Fies selection process for the first semester of 2024 have until March 15 to register through the Unified Higher Education Access Portal. Registration is free.

This year, the Ministry of Education (MEC) is offering a total of 112,168 slots for higher education financing, with 67,301 of them allocated for the selection process in this first semester. The focus of this edition is on Fies Social, which reserves at least 50% of the slots for people with family incomes up to half the minimum wage and registered in CadÚnico. These candidates have the option to finance up to 100% of educational costs.

Candidates for Fies Social will be automatically identified by the Fies Selection system, using data from CadÚnico provided by the Ministry of Social Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight Against Hunger (MDS), with reference to the registration status as of February 10, 2024.

To apply for Fies, candidates must meet a set of criteria, including having participated in the National High School Exam (Enem) from 2010 onwards, with a minimum average of 450 points across the five exams and a score higher than zero in the essay, as well as having a gross monthly family income per capita of up to three minimum wages.

Registration requires signing up for the Federal Government's Single Login and creating an account on gov.br. During the registration process, candidates must specify their preferences for course, shift, and location, with the option to change them until the end of the registration period.

The complete Fies schedule includes the announcement of results on March 21 and pre-selection through the waiting list from March 28 to April 30.

With Fies Social, the Ministry of Education aims to reinforce the social role of student financing, providing opportunities for low-income students. This program seeks to transform society by offering better financing conditions within the Fies framework.

The Student Financing Fund, established by Law No. 10,260 of 2001, continues to offer financing slots for undergraduate courses in non-free institutions that have received positive evaluations from the National System for Higher Education Evaluation (Sinaes).
